Announcing Lankhorst Ropes Offshore Division for SPM and Deepwater Rope Moorings

2009.07.16 - Company News

Offspring International Ltd, as worldwide agents for Lankhorst Ropes Offshore Division, has announced the renaming of Quintas & Quintas Offshore to Lankhorst Ropes Offshore Division. The new name reflects Lankhorst Ropes commitment to growing its offshore business in Single Point Mooring (SPM) and Deepwater ropes.

Quintas & Quintas, based in Porto, Portugal, was acquired by Royal Lankhorst Euronete Group bv in January 2008. Since the acquisition, Lankhorst Ropes has invested over Euro 10M in new machines, test beds and increased rigging capacity. Recently Lankhorst, through Offspring International, has supplied deepwater polyester mooring lines for the Thunder Hawk, semi-submersible, floating production unit in 6,050ft (1,800m) of water and Cascade-Chinook Submerged Turret Production buoy moored in 8,677ft (2,635m) of water, in the Gulf of Mexico.

For its Single Point Mooring systems, Lankhorst Ropes has recently completed independent testing of mooring lines in accordance with OCIMF recommendations, and, in collaboration with Offspring International, is developing new types of rope materials and floats.

Lankhorst Ropes, managing director, Wilco Stroet explained the background to the formation of Lankhorst Offshore Ropes Division: “Traditionally Lankhorst Ropes has not been active in the offshore market. In 2007 we made a strategic decision to move into offshore and found Quintas & Quintas the most innovative and best performing rope company in the market. The name change to Lankhorst Ropes Offshore Division reflects the broader involvement of Lankhorst in the offshore industry, that brings together Quintas & Quintas with elements of our Engineering Products Division.”

David Rowley, director, Offspring International, commented, “The support of the Lankhorst Group has been vital in enabling us to continue to offer high performance, rope mooring solutions. The investment in Lankhorst Ropes Offshore Division’s expanded rigging facilities, and development of SPM and deepwater ropes, will ensure we are able to offer the best mooring ropes in the industry.
