Flexlife, an oil & gas industry specialist in subsea project and integrity management, has opened a new base in Newcastle and plans to recruit 25 staff by the end of this year, rising to 50 within 18 months. Emily Farquhar, who has more than 30 years of geophysics experience, has been named President of Fugro Gravity & Magnetic Services.

Fugro Gravity & Magnetic Services is a leading provider of potential field products and services for oil and gas exploration. With sister companies Fugro Airborne Surveys and Fugro Ground Geophysics, Fugro Gravity & Magnetic Services acquires, processes and interprets magnetic (susceptibility), gravity (density) and electromagnetic (resistivity) data on land, sea and in the air.

Farquhar has been with Fugro for more than a decade, including nine years as a manager with Fugro Airborne Surveys in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Most recently, Farquhar was the Houston representative for Fugro Electro Magnetic, a part of Fugro’s cooperative agreement with Electromagnetic Geoservices.

She is a member of the Canadian Exploration Geophysical Society and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG). Farquhar earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in geophysics and a Master of Science degree in geophysics/physics from the University of Toronto.

Fugro Gravity & Magnetic Services is a part of Fugro, which has more than 14,000 employees and operates in more than 50 countries. Fugro provides advanced surveying, seismic, oceanographic, meteorological and positioning services. Fugro interprets and processes data collected at sea, on land and from the air.

The rigs will be built at AmFELS' Brownsville, Texas shipyard, with delivery scheduled at approximately four-month intervals beginning in the second quarter of 2010.
