Subsea Specialist Flexlife Opens New UK Base and Appoints Director

Flexlife, an oil & gas industry specialist in subsea project and integrity management, has opened a new base in Newcastle and plans to recruit 25 staff by the end of this year, rising to 50 within 18 months. Hydro Group appoints new director to realise vision for growth

berdeen-based Hydro Group, a global solutions provider of optical and electrical products in the subsea technology industry, has appointed Derrick Reith as international sales director.

                                                                                                                              

Mr Reith has spent over 20 years working within the Oil and Gas Industry, with experience in the engineering, manufacturing and service sectors.

 
Formerly general manager at Proserv Offshore Ltd, Mr Reith’s appointment as Hydro Group’s new sales director comes as part of the company’s overall vision to strengthen the sales team and drive the company forward into emerging international markets.


Mr Reith said: “Hydro Group is well placed to move forward with its growth plans set out over the next 4 years. 40% of our business is export; our plan is to increase our manufacturing capacity and bring this nearer to 70%.


“You can look at the current economic climate and industry downturn in a positive or negative way; the team at Hydro Group is focused on the positive and the road ahead towards international growth.”
 

A member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Institute of Directors and holding an MSC in international marketing management, Mr Reith will be based at the company’s head office in Aberdeen. He will be responsible for the formulation of business strategy and work with Hydro Group’s worldwide business partners to further develop international markets.


Hydro Group employs a total of 72 staff and operates on a global scale. Formed in 1982, it is now a major national and international supplier of harsh environment engineered products with a portfolio of blue chip clients, major operators and the Ministry of Defence.
