NCS Survey Acquires SRD Survey Division

2009.10.12 - Company News

NCS Survey Ltd and Halma PLC have signed Heads of Agreement to transfer the Survey Operations Department of Sonar Research and Development (SRD) to NCS Survey.  This leaves SRD (a division of Tritech) to concentrate on the development and manufacture of 3D visualisation systems while NCS Survey will take on SRDs existing and future survey projects.

NCS Survey is the leading independent survey contractor specialising in survey and subsea positioning to both the Oil & Gas and Renewable Energy Sectors.

Andy Gray, NCS Chief Executive, stated “The addition of the SRD team, the high specification multibeam sonars and 3D visualisation software will enable NCS Survey to offer an enhanced range of cost effective solutions to our clients.  We have worked with SRD for several years and the solutions that we can offer are unmatched by other systems.”

The purchase of SRD’s survey arm together with the recent investment in AUVs means NCS has invested over £2m this year in expanding its range of services.  The company has continued to grow despite the economic downturn and has continued to recruit new staff – now 60 in number.

Brian Bullock, SRD Managing Director, stated “This is a positive step for the development of SRD’s Survey business, which will benefit a much wider range of customers within the subsea community as part of the NCS Survey operation.  The SRD system has evolved into the most powerful real-time visualisation system on the market and has proven itself in many applications to be the only viable solution available.  It is in very good hands with NCS.”
