OEG secures £1.2m subsea deals

2010.08.29 - Company News

Aberdeen-based oil services group OEG Offshore (OEG) has been awarded a series of subsea contracts worth £1.2 million.

OEG – which specialises in the design, build and rental of specialist A60 cabins and cargo-carrying units for the offshore oil and gas market – will deliver various ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicles) modules to Subatlantic, PSSL, Schilling Robotics (Schilling) and Subsea Robotics.

The contracts involve six ROV control cabins and workshops for Schilling for worldwide use and two ROV cabins for Subsea Robotics for use in the Asia Pacific region. The PSSL deal comprises one ROV cabin, whilst Subatlantic requires two ROV control vans – all of which have been designed to be used in international waters.
Garrick Hurst, Engineering Manager at OEG, said: “OEG’s experience in building and designing modules for the ROV industry spans over 20 years, and our ongoing collaboration with subsea companies has developed our expertise in creating modules that meet with customer specifications in a very technical and challenging area of the energy market.

“Working on an international basis means that our products can be deployed across various countries and continents, which have varying acceptable standards. Our units are not only designed to comply with DNV 271 and A60 standards where required, but can also be upgraded to Zone II for use in hazardous areas and CSC plated to enable cost-effective transportation from one location to another.

“Our comprehensive understanding of the nature of work that our subsea customers are involved in means that our designs for ROV cabins and workshops are geared towards creating an ergonomic workplace for employees. This enables a more fluid working environment that reduces stress and increases productivity, with the aim of minimising man hours and consequently, costs.  Furthermore, we are currently working on new designs that will hold more benefits for customers, such as quicker hook-ups, hazardous area upgrades and an ability to increase turnaround time during customer equipment integration.”
