Cargotec has secured an order for six of its MacGregor knuckle-jib crane units from STX Europe. The cranes are specifically designed to operate in severe climatic conditions and extreme air temperatures and will be installed on three icebreaker tugs, designed by Aker Arctic Technology Inc. The units are scheduled for delivery throughout the period between June 2010 and January 2011. Full text

Niche Products has announced the addition of Pelagic 100 high temperature water based control fluid to their local US manufacturing capabilities. Pelagic 100 is the most recent product within the Pelagic range to be manufactured in the US and joins Pelagic SST umbilical storage fluid and Pelagic water glycol mixes already available for bulk supply Ex Works Houston. Aberdeen headquartered Triton Group is to build on its presence in Houston with the transfer of the production of specialist subsea equipment from Florida. The global providers of subsea technology products and services have already created 40 jobs in Houston and expanded their accommodation in West Little York from 5,000 to 30,000 square feet in the last 18 months. The first phase of an ambitious £3.2 million expansion drive – creating new investment, jobs and business in the North East - has been successfully completed by Express Engineering. The Team Valley based operation has begun manufacturing in the 18,000 square foot extension of its 58,000 square foot site, with 20 retrained staff producing components, many of them for new clients.
