Seadrill orders new ultra-deepwater drillships for delivery in 2013

Seadrill has entered into a turnkey contract to build up to four new ultra-deepwater drillships at the Samsung yard in South Korea. The first two drillships are firmly ordered with delivery in the first and second quarter 2013, respectively. Total project price per rig is estimated to be less than US$600 million. Full text

Flexlife announces £5.5million capital investment deal to accelerate future growth

Subsea specialist flexlife has announced that Maven Capital Partners and Simmons Parallel Energy (SPE) have invested £5.5million growth equity in the company. The investment deal was led by Simmons & Company International and will help complete commercialisation of new products and underpin future Research & Development work. STEP Offshore to upgrade Awilco Drilling's Arctic II

STEP Offshore, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aker Solutions, has won a contract from Awilco Drilling Limited to engineer and deliver mud mixing and solids control systems to the Arctic II rig. STEP Offshore estimates that the value of the work will be approximately NOK 12 million. Full text

OceanServer Technology, a leader in next generation AUV technology, announced today that Cal Poly has agreed to purchase a second Iver2 AUV for research purposes. The first Iver2 AUV was purchased in 2008 and has been used extensively for a variety of research applications including one project that required the vehicle to operate under the ice in the Arctic. Spectrum has signed an agreement with the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) to reprocess more than 7,800kms of 2D seismic data offshore the east coast of Greenland. IOS InterMoor AS, an Acteon company, has been awarded a global mooring frame agreement by Statoil Petroleum AS. The three year contract for mooring services also has an option to extend the agreement for up to two periods of one year each. IOS InterMoor’s scope of work includes providing high quality mooring equipment, personnel and technical support for offshore operations to Statoil’s rig fleet in Norway and internationally. Aberdeen-based oil services group OEG Offshore (OEG) has been awarded a series of subsea contracts worth £1.2 million. OEG – which specialises in the design, build and rental of specialist A60 cabins and cargo-carrying units for the offshore oil and gas market – will deliver various ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicles) modules to Subatlantic, PSSL, Schilling Robotics (Schilling) and Subsea Robotics.
