StatoilHydro adds to deepwater portefolio in North America

“These leases will add to our already extensive deepwater portfolio,” says Øivind Reinertsen, head of StatoilHydro’s North American business.
“The next milestone will be the start-up of our self-operated drilling program and we are preparing for intensive drilling activity in the years to come,” he adds.
Through farm-ins, acquisitions and lease sales StatoilHydro has become one of the largest lease holders in deepwater Gulf of Mexico.
The company participates in 15 interesting discoveries including Julia, Jack, Caesar, Tonga and St. Malo and in two developments, Tahiti and Thunder Hawk, both due to come on stream next year.
Lease Sale 206 is part of the current schedule of Minerals Management Service (MMS) in New Orleans.
StatoilHydro's winning bids are subject to review and final approval by the MMS which can take up to 90 days.
Petroleum Geo-Services ASA ('PGS' or the Company) announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Applied Geophysical Services, Inc. (AGS) for a price of USD 51 million, subject to certain adjustments for changes in working capital. PGS estimates an enterprise value for AGS of approximately USD 46 million. AGS is based in Houston, Texas and specializes in providing advanced depth imaging services. The transaction is expected to close during the course of this week.
Total announces the acquisition of a 40% interest in three exploration permits northeast of Ichthys on the Australian Browse Basin jointly with Inpex (60%, operator). These interests were held by ConocoPhillips. This acquisition is subject to the approval of the Australian authorities.
Rowan Companies, Inc. (NYSE:RDC) announced today that it has entered into contracts with Keppel AmFELS, Inc. for the construction of four Super 116E class jack-ups.
