Triton to make Houston Centre for the production of specialist subsea equipment for the Americas
Aberdeen headquartered Triton Group is to build on its presence in Houston with the transfer of the production of specialist subsea equipment from Florida.
The global providers of subsea technology products and services have already created 40 jobs in Houston and expanded their accommodation in West Little York from 5,000 to 30,000 square feet in the last 18 months.
Triton Group subsidiary, Perry Slingsby Systems, which manufactures remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) for the subsea oil and gas industry, currently has production capability in Florida but also a manufacturing base in the UK and Houston.
The transfer of Florida production to Houston, to be undertaken in the next few months, will bring the total invested by Triton Group in the city to in excess of $2 million.
A new vice president to lead this restructuring of Perry Slingsby in the United States has been appointed. Industry professional, Rory Satterfield will steer the company as it drives forward a regional approach to the production of subsea equipment and the ability to assemble, test and commission equipment in each of the geographical regions. The Houston facility will provide the template for this structured customer focussed approach.
Satterfield, who has been with PSSI since 1986, was previously VP Operations at the company’s facility in Jupiter, Florida, and general manager of Perry Slingsby Systems in Houston where he was responsible for growing the business since its launch in 2007.
The re-structuring will also see executive management, finance, HR, IT, project management, QHSE and customer support services for the Americas operate out of Houston hub.
“Six of our companies are now based in West Little York providing equipment support, repair and refurbishment, project management, engineering, equipment assembly and commissioning allowing us to capitalise on the synergies and provide an integrated service to clients,” explains Martin Anderson, Triton Group’s chief executive officer.
“Moving the PSS production and other functions from Florida to Houston, makes sound business sense from a client perspective, giving a more efficient and flexible manufacturing support base and ensuring we are closer to the customer in order to service their markets more effectively.”
A core team of engineering and software specialists will remain in the PSSI facility in Jupiter to provide ongoing product and customer support. This team will also form a new Triton Technology Team which will be the hub for a Group wide technology strategy.
