Hallin Wins Marine Subsea Contract

2010.07.08 - Contracts

Hallin Marine Subsea International Ltd, a Superior Energy Services company, has won a US $25 million, five-year contract to supply ROV services from Marine Subsea AS for the new build subsea intervention vessel Karianne.

Under the terms of the contract, Hallin will supply two new Quantum XP 200hp work class ROVs and handling systems and the teams of operators and technicians to deploy and operate the vehicles.

Hallin has ordered the ROVs from UK manufacturer SMD and the vehicles will use bespoke handling systems and hangers that will be built into the 120 metre, state of the art vessel.

The 3,000 metre rated, work class ROVs will give the Karianne great flexibility in its primary role as a subsea well intervention and construction support vessel in the deepwater regions across the globe.

Hallin will have at any one time, depending on Karianne’s workload, between six and 12 of its staff on board the vessel, which is scheduled for delivery to Marine Subsea in October this year.

Hallin’s West division’s Managing Director, Mike Arnold, said: ‘We are pleased to be working with Marine Subsea on the Karianne, a new and very exciting vessel.

‘Our ROV assets and experience are ideal for an operational platform of this quality and we are now working very hard with Marine Subsea to ensure the successful integration of the ROVs.’

Christian Nygaard, Managing Director of Marine Subsea AS, welcomed the partnership with Hallin. ‘We are pleased to be working with Hallin to offer best in class ROV technology on our brand new vessel, which is currently under construction.

‘Following the success of our Ulstein SX121 vessel Sarah, we are confident that the Karianne will be in high demand within our industry segment
