RBG starts strong in 2011 with major contract wins

2011.03.13 - Contracts

RBG, the leading provider of Inspect, Assess and Repair (IAR) services to the global energy industry, had a record month of contract wins in February, securing more than £150million of new work which will create around 60 new positions.

RBG, which provides a wide range of expert services to maintain the integrity of production facilities, has experienced a period of significant activity in the North Sea, securing contract wins with a number of major operators to be delivered over the next few years.

RBG CEO, Dave Workman, said: “The industry is emerging from a significant downturn and we are now seeing the predicted recovery. We have started strongly in 2011 with an upturn in contract activity, particularly in the UKCS, with demand growing across all of our service lines. We are seeing similar growth in our international locations and we are excited about the prospects for the company in the next 12 months as we build on our established reputation and recent successes."

A significant part of this recent success was a three-year inspect, repair and maintenance (IRM) air and nitrox diving contract award from Maersk Oil UK, worth up to £36 million including extension options. Around 100 employees from the company’s marine & subsea division will provide a range of integrated services including vessel-based diving, autonomous diving support craft and ROV services, for Maersk Oil’s North Sea assets.

RBG also secured a multi-million pound contract with a major UKCS operator to deliver an integrated range of fabric maintenance and integrity support services on three North Sea platforms. The five-year contract, which has two one-year extension options, will see teams of experienced and multi-disciplined RBG personnel provide essential services such as deck operations, access solutions, protective coatings and other specialist activities.

Safety is at the heart RBG’s recent success and, in December 2009, the company launched its REACH safety program. REACH aims to create a stronger, safer culture throughout RBG, and in the past year has contributed to delivering world class safety performance amongst the RBG UKCS workforce and significant improvements in safety performance across the company’s global operations

Mr. Workman said: “Recent contract wins cement our position as a leading North Sea contractor and highlight the range of different services we deliver for our clients. We believe that the breadth of our service offering, combined with a continued focus on safety improvements through our REACH safety programme, has contributed to our recent success. Quality, safety and technical excellence is at the heart of what we do and a key factor in winning new work. Safety is top of the agenda in the oil and gas industry and our compliance with clear standards is what we believe sets us apart.

“We are accelerating our investment in the people, technology and infrastructure that allows us to continually deliver our expert services to the safest and highest standards, across all our key markets. These investments will ensure that RBG is well positioned to serve the global energy industry and provide integrated and tailored solutions to meet any project requirement.”
