Valiant Petroleum plc today announced that first oil from the Don Southwest field has been achieved and the two production wells are on-stream. Valiant holds a 40% interest in Don Southwest, through a wholly owned subsidiary, which sits in UKCS Licence P.236, Block 211/18a and is operated by Petrofac Energy Developments Limited. Full text
Anadarko Petroleum Corporation today provided update activities. Anadarko announced a Miocene discovery at the Samurai prospect in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico in Green Canyon block 432. The discovery well, located approximately 12 miles north of the Marco Polo platform, encountered more than 120 feet of net oil pay in several high-quality sands. Full text
A small oil discovery has been made by StatoilHydro in the Titan prospect directly east of northern Visund in the Tampen area of the Norwegian North Sea. Full text
Det norske oljeselskap ASA, operator Talisman Energy and partner Petoro has discovered between 40 million and 130 million barrels of oil in the Grevling prospect in PL 038D. The appraisal well shows that the discovery is larger than first anticipated. Full text
Aker Exploration is partner in Production License 304 which has started drilling on a prospect near the Grane and Balder fields. The prospect is called Aegis and is drilled with the rig Songa Dee.

Oil has been discovered by StatoilHydro in the Gygrid prospect about 20 kilometres north-east of Njord in the southern part of the Norwegian Sea. Made by an exploration and an appraisal well, the discovery contains 20-30 million barrels of recoverable oil. Full text
Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE: XOM) today announced the Turkish government approved an agreement between its affiliate ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Turkey B.V. and the Turkish national oil company Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO) to explore two deepwater blocks in the Black Sea.
