Noreco sells gas discovery

Norwegian Energy Company (Noreco) has entered into an agreement to sell its 20 percent share of license PL435 on Haltenbanken to OMV (Norge) AS. License PL435 contains the gas discovery Zidane-1 which was made in 2010. This discovery is estimated to contain between 5 and 18 billion standard cubic metres of recoverable gas. The second exploration well in the license is named Zidane-2 and is planned to be drilled later this year.

Eni announces a giant gas discovery offshore Mozambique

Eni announces a giant natural gas discovery at the Mamba South 1 prospect, in the Area 4 Offshore Mozambique. The discovery well encountered a total of 212 meters of continuous gas pay in high-quality Oligocene sands.

Uruguay state-run oil company ANCAP signed a contract with the international company Fugro for the provision of geophysical services covering a complete aero-magnetic survey of Pelotas, Punta del Este and Oriental del Plata offshore basins. It is expected that after signed the contract with Fugro, the acquisition and processing of the aero magnetic data will last around six months.

Statoil Petroleum AS, operator of production licence 488, has completed the drilling of wildcat well 7119/12-4. The well was drilled about 145 kilometres northwest of Hammerfest and about 40 kilometres south of the 7120/8-1 Askeladd gas deposit, which is part of the Snøhvit development.

Chevron Announces Further Natural Gas Find in Australia

Chevron Corp. (NYSE:CVX) today announced a further drilling success in the Carnarvon Basin offshore Western Australia, Australia's premier hydrocarbon basin. The Orthrus-2 well is located in the WA-24-R permit area approximately 60 miles (100 kilometers) northwest of Barrow Island. The well was drilled to a total depth of 14,098 feet (4,297 meters).

A/S Norske Shell has completed the drilling of appraisal well 6305/4-2 S on the Ormen Lange field. The well, which was drilled about 12 kilometres northwest of the field's main production area, was dry. Well 6305/4-2 S is the eight exploration well to be drilled on the Ormen Lange field.

Norwegian Energy Company ASA (Noreco) has announced that the 02/05 license group in Denmark has been awarded a new license 1/11, immediately to the west of the original 2/05 license area. Noreco is the operator and has a 47 percent interest in both licenses.

Total announces discoveries from the Bilondo Marine 2 and 3 wells (BILDM-2 and BILDM-3), drilled in a water depth of 800 metres in the central area of the Moho-Bilondo license, approximately 70 kilometres offshore the Republic of the Congo. They follow the successful exploration wells Moho Nord Marine 1 and 2 drilled in 2007.

Maersk Oil awarded Avaldsnes licence in Norway

Maersk Oil announces it has been awarded a licence in the Norwegian North Sea as a result of the latest APA Licensing Round. The licence is a geographical extension of Licence PL501, where operator Lundin and partners Statoil and Maersk Oil made the recent Avaldsnes discovery, into blocks 16/3 and 16/6. The licence holding structure remains the same in this extension; Lundin with 40%, Statoil with 40% and Maersk Oil with 20%.

TGS Announces its First Multi-client 3D Survey in Indonesia

TGS will commence a new multi-client 3D survey in the Tarakan Basin, offshore East Kalimantan, Indonesia in the Celebes Sea. The survey, TBN10, is the first ever multi-client 3D survey for TGS in Indonesia waters and will cover in excess of 1,600 km2. The data will be acquired by the M/V Seisquest and will commence before the end of this year, with acquisition expected to complete in Q1 2011.
