StatoilHydro Canada has made a discovery in the Flemish Pass Basin, offshore Newfoundland. Hydrocarbons were encountered while drilling the deepwater Mizzen prospect (EL 1049), located approximately 500 kilometres east-northeast of St John’s, Newfoundland. Full text
Eni has made a new hydrocarbon discovery offshore Indonesia. Eni, as the operator, has successfully drilled an exploration well on the Jangkrik structure, located in the Muara Bakau block Kutei Basin, east of Kalimantan. The Jangkrik discovery, drilled in 400 meter water depth, represents a significant success in Eni's exploration efforts in the Kutei Basin. Full text
Under an agreement between StatoilHydro and Lundin Petroleum signed on 2 April StatoilHydro farms into three North Sea licences. StatoilHydro will acquire a 30 percent interest in exploration licences PL359 and PL410, both located in the Utsira High area, plus a 10 percent interest in PL409.

ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Norway AS, operator of production license 029B, has completed the drilling of the wildcat 15/6-10. The well is located about 30 kilometers north of the Sleipner field in the North Sea. Det norske oljeselskap (Det norske) has drilled the well on behalf of ExxonMobil. Full text
Dana to announced that it has made a significant gas discovery at Anchois, in the Tanger-Larache licence, with its first well offshore Morocco. The Anchois-1 discovery well is located about 40km from the coast and was drilled to a total depth of 2,435m. Full text
Afren plc and its partner Oriental Energy Resources today announced the independent analysis of the appraisal programme data relating to the completion of appraisal drilling on the Ebok Field, offshore Nigeria. The results represents a significant success for the Ebok field partners with the results considerably exceeding pre-drill expectations. Full text
StatoilHydro has struck oil during the drilling of an exploration well and a sidetrack north of the Vigdis East field in the North Sea. The exploration well was drilled into the Vigdis North-East prospect, located 3 kilometres south of the Snorre field. The discovery will be developed towards the Tordis or Vigdis fields. Full text
Gas has been found by StatoilHydro in the Asterix prospect, which lies in 1,360 metres of water 345 kilometres west of Sandnessjøen in the Norwegian Sea. Anadarko Petroleum Corporation today announced the Tweneboa-1 discovery well offshore Ghana encountered approximately 70 feet of net pay. The well discovered a light hydrocarbon accumulation in similar-age sands as the nearby, but separate, Jubilee field. Full text
