DOF Subsea Norway AS to Perform Geotechnical Survey for Shtokman Development AGBergen-based specialist subsea service company DOF Subsea Norway has been awarded a contract for the provision of Complementary Offshore Geotechnical Survey by Shtokman Development AG. DOF Subsea will commence work in the Shtokman Gas Condensate field in early September utilising own vessel Geobay. A concept for the Gudrun field development has now been chosen by StatoilHydro and its partners in the field. Plans are now being drawn up for a new platform in the North Sea. Plans also call for connecting a subsea system on the Sigrun field to the future platform on the Gudrun field. Full text
Noble Energy announced today a natural gas discovery at the Tamar prospect in the Matan license, offshore Israel. The Tamar #1 well, located in approximately 5,500 feet of water, was drilled to a total depth of 16,076 feet to test a subsalt, lower-Miocene structure in the Levantine basin. Full text
The contractor which is providing the JUDPSO has indicated that there will be delays in obtaining the necessary financing for this production facility. Accordingly it is not expected that final project sanction will occur until later in 2009. In the meantime work will focus on seeking cost reductions and identifying third party volumes that can be developed over the Frøy facility. Full text
StatoilHydro ASA, operator of production licence 128, has concluded wildcat well 6608/10-12 and is in the process of concluding appraisal well 6608/10-12 A. An appraisal well on the Obesum prospect in the Barents Sea has confirmed the existence of gas, but the discovery is not considered commercial. The drilling was performed by the Polar Pioneer drilling unit in 340 metres of water, some 175 kilometres north/northwest of Hammerfest. Full text
EnCore Oil today announced the successful drilling of the pilot hole and 5z horizontal well on Block 42/13 in the United Kingdom North Sea. It has confirmed the ability to successfully drill a horizontal well within the Breagh reservoir and testing should establish the reservoir performance from a horizontal well. Full text
GDF SUEZ and its license partner, First Oil Expro Ltd, has announced a new gas discovery in the Southern Basin sector of the United Kingdom Continental Shelf. The 47/14b-10 “Juliet” well is located to the south of the Amethyst gas field, about 40 km due east of the Humber Estuary. Full text
Lundin Petroleum has just announced that drilling of the well 2/5-14S with planned side track 2/5-14A located in Block 2/5, PL 006C, in the North Sea sector of the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS), has commenced. The exploration well 2/5-14S is targeting the Hyme prospect while the side track 2/5-14A is an appraisal well on the South East Tor discovery. Full text
Antrim Energy Inc. today announced that a Field Development Plan (FDP) for Phase I of its Northern North Sea property "Causeway". The FDP, which plans production through a subsea tieback to the Dunlin platform is for the eastern area of the Causeway Field only and is the first phase of what is anticipated to be several phases of development of the field.
