DOF Subsea Norway AS to Perform Geotechnical Survey for Shtokman Development AGBergen-based specialist subsea service company DOF Subsea Norway has been awarded a contract for the provision of Complementary Offshore Geotechnical Survey by Shtokman Development AG. DOF Subsea will commence work in the Shtokman Gas Condensate field in early September utilising own vessel Geobay. Serica Energy plc as operator of UK Block 23/16f has submitted the Field Development Programme for the Columbus field in the UK Central North Sea to the UK government. Engineering studies have been carried out in cooperation with neighbouring infrastructure operators and the Columbus FDP envisages production via a subsea tie-back to the BP operated Eastern Trough Area Project (“ETAP”). BP America Inc. announced today an oil discovery at its Freedom Prospect in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The well, located in Mississippi Canyon Block 948, approximately 70 miles southeast of the Louisiana Coast, is in about 6,100 feet (1,860 metres) of water. Full text

EnCore Oil today announced that the East Breagh well has reached total depth having successfully encountered significant gas shows. Initial analysis of wireline log and pressure data indicates the presence of a 72 foot net gas bearing interval and that the gas in this well is likely to be part of the same accumulation found in the 42/13-3 well. Lundin Norway AS (LNAS) has been granted consent to conduct exploration drilling of well 2/5-14 S and drilling of sidetrack 2/5-14 A using Mærsk Gallant. The well is located in the southern North Sea approx. 255 km southwest of Egersund and West of the Ekofisk Field and South of the Tor Field. Full text

Following successful completion of a side track on the Jordbær Central discovery announced in August, Revus Energy today confirmed the extension of the oil discovery in well 34/3-1A. The oil water contact was encountered as prognosed, and Revus Energy's internal preliminary estimates indicate recoverable reserves of between 57 and 100 mmboe. Full text
Revus Energy (UK North Sea) Limited ('Revus') announces that it has entered into a farm-in agreement with EnCore Oil plc ('EnCore') to earn a 20 per cent interest in UK Central North Sea blocks 28/9 and 28/10c. Antrim Energy today announced the signing of an Agreement with Fairfield Energy Limited for platform hosting services on the Dunlin Alpha Platform for its Causeway Development in the UK North Sea. It is planned for the Causeway Field to be developed using subsea production technology with a tie-back to the existing Dunlin Alpha Platform (Dunlin), which lies approximately 9 kilometres to the east of Causeway. Eni has made a new gas discovery in the Sicilian Strait, about 20km off the coast of Agrigento, through the Argo 2 well. The Argo 2 discovery (Eni is the operator with a 60% share, Edison 40%), located at a water depth of approximately 500 metres, follows the recent Cassiopea 1 well gas discovery. Full text
