Mermaid Marine Australia sublease with Chevron for development of the Gorgon Project
Mermaid Marine Australia Ltd (MMA) is pleased to announce that it has signed a formal Sublease with Chevron Australia Pty Ltd (Chevron) to support the development of the Gorgon Project. MMA announced in May 2008 that it had entered into an Agreement to Sublease with Chevron and negotiations between the parties have now been finalised. Full text
Ireland open 2009 Rockall licensing round
Minister Sean Power today announced the opening of the 2009 Rockall Licensing Round and published the details of the Round. Under the 2009 Rockall Licensing Round, oil and gas exploration companies will be invited to apply for new Frontier Exploration Licences in the Rockall Basin. The acreage on offer in the Rockall Basin to the west of Ireland. Full text
ONGC announces significant discovery in Krishna Godavari Offshore
After encountering several discoveries in Krishna Godavari (KG) Offshore in recent past (including landmark ultradeep discovery at a water depth of 2841 metres in December, 2006), ONGC has now struck oil in nomination Block- IG at a water depth of 225metres in well G-4-6, 15 kms off Yanam coast, Andhra Pradesh. Tullow Oil plc announces that the Ebony-1 exploration well, located in the Shallow Water Tano licence offshore Ghana, has intersected two hydrocarbon bearing intervals in Late Cretaceous turbidite sands. Full text
StatoilHydro find more gas near Luva discovery
StatoilHydro has made a small additional gas discovery during drilling of an exploration well, south-east of the Luva gas discovery, north-west of Sandnessjøen in mid-Norway. The well was drilled by the Transocean Leader drilling rig Full text
ExxonMobil to explore deepwater blocks offshore Turkey
Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) announced today its affiliate, ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Turkey B.V., has signed an agreement with Turkish national oil company, TPAO, to explore in two large deepwater blocks offshore Turkey, marking ExxonMobil’s entry into Black Sea exploration. SemiSub West Alpha start drilling operations on Fulla field
Drilling operations at the Fulla field started November 12th. The field is operated by StatoilHydro, and Det norske has a 15 % interest share in the license. Fulla is located in licenses 035 and 362, and the drilling operations are carried out by the semi-submersible rig West Alpha. Full text
Total with Exploration Success & New Development in Thailand
Total announces today that three successful exploration wells have been drilled in Thailand and that a new phase of development of the Bongkot North Field has been launched. Three exploration wells, Ton Sak 7, Ton Sak 8 and Ton Son 2, have been drilled on the Bongkot offshore concession in the Gulf of Thailand, all of which discovered commercial quantities of gas and condensates. Revus Energy awarded six North Sea licences in UK license awards
Revus Energy E&P Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of Revus Energy ASA) has been offered for award, six North Sea licences in the UK 25th offshore Licensing Round. The overall work programme attached to the offer includes five firm wells. The award marks a step-change in Revus Energy's UKCS position. Full text
