Maersk Oil has signed a collaborative exploration agreement for a multi-well package with Chevron in the central deep water US Gulf of Mexico. Under this agreement, a number of exploration wells over the next few years will be drilled in the area with the first four due to commence over the next six months. Full text

StatoilHydro has made two new discoveries on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS).The presence of a considerable oil column has been confirmed under the Dagny structure in the North Sea. StatoilHydro Petroleum AS, as operator of exploration licence 394, has completed drilling of exploration well 7224/6-1 in the Barents Sea. In the primary exploration target, rocks of good reservoir quality were found in accordance with the prognoses. Full text
Searcher Seismic Pty Ltd today announced the largest non‐exclusive seismic 3D reprocessing project ever undertaken in Australia. The project is carried out in conjunction with Fugro whom is also processing the 3D data with state of the art processing techiques in their Perth centre.

Nexen announces that it has made a discovery in the UK North Sea at Blackbird located on Block 20/2a, six kilometres south of our operated Ettrick field. The well has been suspended for use as a production well, while work progresses to fast track development as a subsea tie-back to the nearby Ettrick floating production, storage and offloading vessel. A significant oil discovery on the Jordbær prospect was today annonced by Revus Energy and BG group. The well has been tested with average oil rate of approximately 7 500 barrels per day. Jordbær discovery significantly increases the likelihood of additional discoveries in the area. Full text
The consortium formed by Petrobras (65% - Operator), the BG Group (25%), and Galp Energia (10%), to explore block BM-S-11, in ultradeep Santos Basin waters, proved the existence of yet another light oil field, with specific gravity around 30o API, in the pre-salt reservoirs. Full text
