ANADARKO ANNOUNCES FIRST DEEPWATER DISCOVERY OFFSHORE MOZAMBIQUEAnadarko Petroleum Corporation today announced the Windjammer exploration well in the frontier Rovuma Basin offshore Mozambique has reached an intermediate casing point and encountered more than 480 net feet of natural gas pay in high quality reservoir sands, with a gross column of more than 1,200 feet. Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc. (NYSE: HLX) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Energy Resource Technology GOM (ERT), has made a Gulf of Mexico deepwater oil and gas discovery at its Jake prospect, located in Green Canyon Block 490. Full text
ExxonMobil E&P Norway AS (ExxonMobil), the operator of Production License 027D, is about to conclude the drilling of exploration well 25/8-17 and the appraisal well 25/8-17A. Det norske oljeselskap ASA (Det norske) has carried out the drilling on behalf of ExxonMobil. The wells are situated approx. four kilometers south of the Jotun Field in the North Sea. Full text

Total announces that they and Sonangol have discovered oil on Block 17/06, in the deep waters of the Angolan offshore. Gardenia-1 is the first well and the first discovery made on Block 17/06. It was drilled in a water depth of 977 meters. The well discovered hydrocarbon reservoirs, both in the Miocene and the Oligocene. Full text
Lundin Petroleum today announced the successful completion of the exploration well 24/9-9 and two further sidetracks which were all oil discoveries. The wells were drilled on the Marihøne prospect in PL340, 28 kilometers south of the Alvheim field in the Norwegian North Sea. Full text
Chevron today announced an additional natural gas discovery in the Greater Gorgon area’s Carnarvon Basin, Australia’s premier offshore hydrocarbon zone. The Achilles-1 exploration well, located approximately 100 miles (160 kilometers) off the coast of northwest Australia, was drilled to a total depth of 14,800 feet (4,500 meters) and encountered approximately 325 feet (100 meters) of net gas pay. Sonangol and BP today announced the 'Tebe' oil discovery in ultra-deepwater Block 31, offshore Angola. This is the nineteenth discovery made by BP in Block 31 and is located in the southern portion of Block 31 some 350 kilometres northwest of Luanda and about 12 kilometres to the south east of the Hebe discovery. The well is located in the Helgeland Basin, about 45 km east of the Norne field and about 132 km west of Vega. The well tested potential hydrocarbon reservoirs of the Middle Jurassic (Boat Group). Reservoir rocks of prognosed thicknesses and quality were encountered, but the well was dry. Full text
