ANADARKO ANNOUNCES FIRST DEEPWATER DISCOVERY OFFSHORE MOZAMBIQUEAnadarko Petroleum Corporation today announced the Windjammer exploration well in the frontier Rovuma Basin offshore Mozambique has reached an intermediate casing point and encountered more than 480 net feet of natural gas pay in high quality reservoir sands, with a gross column of more than 1,200 feet. Valiant Petroleum plc today announced that first oil from the Don Southwest field has been achieved and the two production wells are on-stream. Valiant holds a 40% interest in Don Southwest, through a wholly owned subsidiary, which sits in UKCS Licence P.236, Block 211/18a and is operated by Petrofac Energy Developments Limited. Full text
Anadarko Petroleum Corporation today provided update activities. Anadarko announced a Miocene discovery at the Samurai prospect in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico in Green Canyon block 432. The discovery well, located approximately 12 miles north of the Marco Polo platform, encountered more than 120 feet of net oil pay in several high-quality sands. Full text
A small oil discovery has been made by StatoilHydro in the Titan prospect directly east of northern Visund in the Tampen area of the Norwegian North Sea. Full text

Oil has been discovered by StatoilHydro in the Gygrid prospect about 20 kilometres north-east of Njord in the southern part of the Norwegian Sea. Made by an exploration and an appraisal well, the discovery contains 20-30 million barrels of recoverable oil. Full text
Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE: XOM) today announced the Turkish government approved an agreement between its affiliate ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Turkey B.V. and the Turkish national oil company Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO) to explore two deepwater blocks in the Black Sea. Sociedade Nacional de Combustíveis de Angola (Sonangol) and BP Exploration (Angola) Limited today announced the 'Oberon' oil discovery in ultra-deepwater Block 31, offshore Angola. This is the eighteenth discovery made by BP in Block 31 and is located in the southern portion of Block 31 about 335 kilometres northwest of Luanda and 4.3 kilometres to the north-east of the Dione discovery.
