Lundin Petroleum today announced the successful completion of the exploration well 24/9-9 and two further sidetracks which were all oil discoveries. The wells were drilled on the Marihøne prospect in PL340, 28 kilometers south of the Alvheim field in the Norwegian North Sea. Full text

Chevron find more natural gas in the Greater Gorgon area

Chevron today announced an additional natural gas discovery in the Greater Gorgon area’s Carnarvon Basin, Australia’s premier offshore hydrocarbon zone. The Achilles-1 exploration well, located approximately 100 miles (160 kilometers) off the coast of northwest Australia, was drilled to a total depth of 14,800 feet (4,500 meters) and encountered approximately 325 feet (100 meters) of net gas pay. Trolla wildcat well offshore Norway was dry

Det norske oljeselskap ASA has as operator, completed drilling operations on Trolla wildcat. The well is located in the Helgeland Basin, about 45 km east of the Norne field and about 132 km west of Vega. The well tested potential hydrocarbon reservoirs of the Middle Jurassic (Boat Group). Reservoir rocks of prognosed thicknesses and quality were encountered, but the well was dry. Full text

DONG Energy and partners, Faroe Petroleum and First Oil Expro, are today announced a discovery of gas in the Glenlivet license West of Shetland.The Glenlivet well is the first well to be operated by DONG Energy in Great Britain in the West of Shetland sector.
