Gas has been proven in the Corvus prospect by an exploration well drilled seven kilometres north-west of the Oseberg C platform in the North Sea. Plans call for the discovery to be tied back to the fixed installations in the Oseberg area if further evaluation shows that the reservoir is commercial. Full text
Hydrocarbons has been discovered in the Gita exploration well in Denmark. The drilling results from the Gita well are very promising, says Noreco, holds a 12% share. The consortium formed by Petrobras, BG Group, and Repsol, to explore block BM-S-9, in ultra deep Santos Basin waters, has proved the existence of another light oil field in the pre-salt reservoirs. The new well is located in the assessment area of 1-SPS-50 (Carioca), some 340 km off the coast of the State of São Paulo, at 2,140 meters from the water line. Full text
StatoilHydro has acquired a 40% stake in 50 blocks from BHP Billiton in the frontier DeSoto Canyon area of the US Gulf of Mexico. DeSoto Canyon is located east of StatoilHydro’s current production operation at Independence Hub. The area has water depths of about 1,000 metres. Full text
StatoilHydro Canada has made a discovery in the Flemish Pass Basin, offshore Newfoundland. Hydrocarbons were encountered while drilling the deepwater Mizzen prospect (EL 1049), located approximately 500 kilometres east-northeast of St John’s, Newfoundland. Full text
Eni has made a new hydrocarbon discovery offshore Indonesia. Eni, as the operator, has successfully drilled an exploration well on the Jangkrik structure, located in the Muara Bakau block Kutei Basin, east of Kalimantan. The Jangkrik discovery, drilled in 400 meter water depth, represents a significant success in Eni's exploration efforts in the Kutei Basin. Full text
Under an agreement between StatoilHydro and Lundin Petroleum signed on 2 April StatoilHydro farms into three North Sea licences. StatoilHydro will acquire a 30 percent interest in exploration licences PL359 and PL410, both located in the Utsira High area, plus a 10 percent interest in PL409.

ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Norway AS, operator of production license 029B, has completed the drilling of the wildcat 15/6-10.
