Lundin Petroleum today announced the successful completion of the exploration well 24/9-9 and two further sidetracks which were all oil discoveries. The wells were drilled on the Marihøne prospect in PL340, 28 kilometers south of the Alvheim field in the Norwegian North Sea. Full text
Chevron today announced an additional natural gas discovery in the Greater Gorgon area’s Carnarvon Basin, Australia’s premier offshore hydrocarbon zone. The Achilles-1 exploration well, located approximately 100 miles (160 kilometers) off the coast of northwest Australia, was drilled to a total depth of 14,800 feet (4,500 meters) and encountered approximately 325 feet (100 meters) of net gas pay. Sonangol and BP today announced the 'Tebe' oil discovery in ultra-deepwater Block 31, offshore Angola. This is the nineteenth discovery made by BP in Block 31 and is located in the southern portion of Block 31 some 350 kilometres northwest of Luanda and about 12 kilometres to the south east of the Hebe discovery. Afren plc and its partner Oriental Energy Resources today announced that the Ebok-5 well offshore South East Nigeria has spudded. This represents the start of the initial development phase of the Ebok field. Full text
Det norske oljeselskap ASA has as operator, completed drilling operations on Trolla wildcat. The well is located in the Helgeland Basin, about 45 km east of the Norne field and about 132 km west of Vega. The well tested potential hydrocarbon reservoirs of the Middle Jurassic (Boat Group). Reservoir rocks of prognosed thicknesses and quality were encountered, but the well was dry. Full text
Anadarko Petroleum Corporation today announced a deepwater discovery at the Venus exploration well in block SL 6/07 offshore Sierra Leone. Venus is the first deepwater test in the Sierra Leone-Liberian Basin. Full text
DONG Energy and partners, Faroe Petroleum and First Oil Expro, are today announced a discovery of gas in the Glenlivet license West of Shetland.The Glenlivet well is the first well to be operated by DONG Energy in Great Britain in the West of Shetland sector. The exploration well is being drilled with the deepwater semi-submersible drilling rig, Transocean Rather. Full text

Norwegian Energy Company ASA, Exploration drilling on the Tasta prospect in Norway has just started. Noreco has a 40 per cent ownership share and is the operator. The Tasta prospect is situated 15 km East of the Jotun field in the Norwegian part of the North Sea. Full text
