Total announced today positive results for the Moho Nord Marine-4 (MHNM-4) well, approximately 75 kilometres offshore of the Republic of Congo, in a water depth of 1,078 metres in the northern part of the Moho-Bilondo license. The discovery follows on from the Moho Nord Marine-1 and 2 finds in 2007 and the positive delineation well of Moho Nord Marine-3 (MHNM-3) in 2008. Full text
Drilling of the exploration well Gygrid in PL348, 10km west of Draugen Field in the Norwegian Sea has started. The well is being drilled by the rig Seadrill West Alpha, and the well is being operated by StatoilHydro. Results are expected in June. The Gygrid prospect is situated in a very interesting license in a prolific hydrocarbon province with infrastructure in place. Full text

A small gas condensate discovery has been made by StatoilHydro in the Canon prospect, about 11 kilometres west of the Veslefrikk field in the North Sea. Full text
Gas has been proven in the Corvus prospect by an exploration well drilled seven kilometres north-west of the Oseberg C platform in the North Sea. Plans call for the discovery to be tied back to the fixed installations in the Oseberg area if further evaluation shows that the reservoir is commercial. Full text
Hydrocarbons has been discovered in the Gita exploration well in Denmark. The drilling results from the Gita well are very promising, says Noreco, holds a 12% share. Other license partners in license 9/95 is operator Maersk Oil & Gas A/S, PA Resources AB, DONG E&P A/S and Danoil Exploration. Full text
The consortium formed by Petrobras, BG Group, and Repsol, to explore block BM-S-9, in ultra deep Santos Basin waters, has proved the existence of another light oil field in the pre-salt reservoirs. The new well is located in the assessment area of 1-SPS-50 (Carioca), some 340 km off the coast of the State of São Paulo, at 2,140 meters from the water line. Full text
StatoilHydro has acquired a 40% stake in 50 blocks from BHP Billiton in the frontier DeSoto Canyon area of the US Gulf of Mexico. DeSoto Canyon is located east of StatoilHydro’s current production operation at Independence Hub. The area has water depths of about 1,000 metres. Full text
