Integrity, inspection and corrosion specialist launches new training courses

2009.07.22 - Industry

Aberdeen-based integrity, inspection and corrosion specialist iicorr is launching new courses led by an international expert in the maintenance field.

It is the first time iicorr has staged courses for external companies to learn best practice in maintaining infrastructure across all industries.

iicorr is working in conjunction with Cheshire-based AV Technology (AVT) to run the courses in Aberdeen to provide accredited training.

iicorr's Managing Director George Watson said of the collaboration: “We have been working with AVT on a number of initiatives with mutual clients.  These training courses are an example of how we can work together to deliver something new to existing and potential customers based in Aberdeen.

“The two courses will provide up-to-date information of quantifiable benefit to organisations. We are delighted to be working with AVT to bring courses of this calibre to Aberdeen. AVT has been providing specialist consultancy support and guidance for 30 years and iicorr has been at the forefront of integrity management since established in 1995.  We have operations all over the world and view knowledge sharing as essential so the courses are an excellent fit with our business.’’

iicorr has built a reputation for innovation and developing new technology to inspect infrastructure and combat corrosion using a range of methods.

The first of what are expected to be a series of courses are:

Introduction to Condition Based Maintenance on August 18 and 19, and Vibration Analysis – BINDT – Level 1 on October 19 to 22.

The Introduction to Condition Based Maintenance course in August is led by internationally renowned condition monitoring expert Simon Mills CEng, CMarEng MIMarEST. It will show basic condition monitoring techniques to improve plant reliability and increase machine availability, highlighting how they fit into an effective maintenance strategy.

The four-day Vibration Analysis BINDT course in October will detail latest techniques for condition monitoring, including an introductory course, data acquisitions, standards and the recognition of poor data. The course will conclude with a training examination and is also led by Simon Mills.
