KONGSBERG signs deal with offshore intallation group

Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies (KOGT), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kongsberg Gruppen ASA, has signed an agreement to supply a flexible risers and umbilicals installation system for the ‘Capstan Reel Installation System’ (CRIS), to the Offshore Installation Group (OIG). The patented CRIS design simplifies the subsea installation process, enabling a reduction in installation time and risk, which translates to significant cost savings. Full text

Cobalt and Sonangol Forge Major Deepwater Partnership

Cobalt International Energy, L.P. and Sonangol, E.P. today jointly announced the formation of a major partnership in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico and the deepwater offshore Angola. UK's £15 billion well abandonment market need new technology

In a report just published, Oil & Gas UK highlights the £15 billion market for services needed to abandon nearly 5,000 platform and subsea wells on the UK continental shelf (UKCS). The report also identified that existing technology will allow the abandonment of only two thirds of wells without the use of a rig. The remaining rigless abandonment will require development of new technologies. Full text
