A major milestone has been reached by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA), the global trade association that represents offshore, marine and underwater engineering companies, with the announcement that the association now has over 500 member companies based in over 50 countries. Cost increases and political issues have hit the LNG industry and will impact near term investment. However, overall capital expenditure (Capex) is set to reach new highs over the 2008-2012 period. A total of $106 billion is projected to be spent on export terminals, LNG carriers and import terminals over the next five years. Technip and Geogreen have signed a non-exclusive agreement that will allow the two companies to offer clients studies for integrated solutions for the entire carbon (CO2) capture, transport and storage chain. This partnership teams Technip’s know-how in CO2 capture, transport and gas compression for injection into underground structures, with Geogreen’s expertise in CO2 transport and geological storage. Over the last months ENI has experienced a continued success from its exploration activities. In the UK and Norway, Jasmine and Kinnoul, Afrodite and Gamma discoveries was announced. In Egypt, ENI made the Satis find. In the Gulf of Mexco Kodiak. All these discoveries make ENI a new major client for subsea suppliers in the years to come. Full text
Technip today announced the acquisition of EPG (BV Ingenieursbureau EPG), a specialized engineering company with strong positions notably in the oil and gas and petrochemical sectors. Based in the Netherlands, EPG employs 120 people. Full text
Aker Solutions has acquired the shares in Qserv Ltd., a leading provider of well, process and pipeline services in the North Sea and International markets. Qserv is a privately owned company established in 2001. The company has approximately 400 employees, of which 250 work offshore.
