Strong position within the oil industry of northern Norway

2009.02.05 - Industry

The Rana company, MOMEK Group AS, and Grenland Group ASA will cooperate in the development of the engineering company, Grenland Arctic AS, located in Harstad. The new name of the company will be Momek Engineering AS.

- MOMEK Group and Grenland Group are the perfect match for deliveries to the oil industry in the north. Through Momek Engineering AS, we will become a solid company in northern Norway, says Hallgeir Skogen, founder of Grenland Group and the majority shareholder.

Offshore - a priority area

MOMEK Group acquires 70% of the shares in Grenland Arctic AS at Harstad. Grenland Arctic AS is an engineering company employing 20 people. The company was established by Grenland Group ASA in 2006, and has its main activities within the oil industry, with oil companies, drilling rig companies and other industrial companies as main clients.
- At the time, Grenland Group established the engineering company because the oil industry was heading towards northern Norway. The company wanted to be present in this important area of growth. Today, we wish to strengthen this establishment by cooperating with MOMEK Group. We are especially pleased to have access to competent fabrication capacities, says Hallgeir Skogen.

Good match

MOMEK Group is one of the largest fabrication companies in the north. The company has experienced a considerable growth during the last years, and holds a strong position within both landbased and offshore-related industry in northern Norway. The group wishes to grow even more, and by taking over the share majority in Grenland Arctic AS, the group will have access to a large and competent engineering team.
- This will extend the market opportunities for MOMEK Group, now able to offer its clients a larger span of products and services, says Wiggo Dalmo, CEO of MOMEK Group.
- We wish to have an extensive cooperation with Grenland Group, where both companies can make use of each other's capabilities and market contacts.

Hallgeir Skogen in Grenland Group is very pleased with the agreement.
- a northern-based industrial ownership will exploit and further develop the expertise already established by Grenland Group in Harstad. All the involved parties will profit from this agreement, he says.
