Technip set two new industry records within the framework of Shell’s Perdido Development in the Gulf of Mexico, which it operates on behalf of partners Chevron and BP. The first for Deepest reeled flowline installation at a water depth of 2,961 meters, the second for Deepest reeled steel catenary riser installation at a water depth of 2,469 meters (8,100 feet).

FMC Technologies has signed a contract for the manufacture and supply of FMC’s proprietary HC-20 high capacity subsea wellhead system, the oil and gas industry’s first subsea wellhead system to be rated and qualified at 20,000 pounds per square inch (psi). Full text

OPERATOR HESS Limited, working with flexible pipe specialist flexlife and partners AGR Field Operations, have made industry history by the successful scanning of flexible risers in situ for the first time. Hess commissioned the inspection of flexible risers on the Triton FPSO using breakthrough technology, as part of campaign to investigate and assess riser integrity on its North Sea assets. Full text

New seismic data from the Utsira formation in the North Sea indicate that the carbon dioxide being pumped into it is not leaking out, but is spreading through the structure as expected. More than 10 million tonnes of carbon dioxide have been injected into the Utsira sandstone formation since the autumn of 1996. Full text

Emerson (NYSE: EMR) today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Aegir Norge Holding AS has reached an agreement with Roxar ASA (OSE: ROX) to launch a voluntary offer for 100 percent of Roxar’s shares. Emerson will offer NOK 5.20 (approximately $ 0.735) per share in cash, which represents approximately NOK 1,266 million (approximately $ 179 million), for the total share capital of Roxar. Full text

Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) today announced the successful results of a seven-well exploration and appraisal program for the Wheatstone and Iago fields in northwest Australia. Following the completion and analysis of the appraisal program, the fields are estimated to hold enough natural gas resources to support a two-train Wheatstone liquefied natural gas (LNG) and domestic gas project.
