Chevron Corporation today announced a $22.8 billion capital and exploratory spending program for 2009, unchanged from the level of expenditures in 2008. A significant portion relates to development projects that build on the company's successful and focused exploration results in recent years, including opportunities in the deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico, western Africa and the Gulf of Thailand. Spectrum's seismic data processing division has reported a dramatic improvement in the sub-basalt imaging of its Offshore Iceland multi-client survey as a result of seismic data reprocessing. The data, comprising 5237km of 2D seismic shot in Icelandic and Norwegian waters, includes the Jan Mayen ridge. Full text

Cameron has received an order worth approximately $83 million for the supply of subsea production systems for Phase II of Chevron's Tahiti subsea development in the Gulf of Mexico. The project includes eight 15,000-psi subsea trees, production control systems, connection systems, engineering and project management services and related equipment. Full text

FMC Technologies said today that it has signed a contract with BP for the manufacture and supply of subsea equipment for the BP and Sonangol Sinopec International Block 18 field development, located offshore Angola. The contract is valued at approximately $140 million in revenue for FMC. Full text

The partners in Norway’s Skanled project have resolved to press ahead after dropping a planned separation plant for natural gas liquids in the Grenland area of south-eastern Norway. By deciding to continue work, the Skanled group can keep to its intention of submitting a plan for installation and operation (PIO). Full text

The Yttergryta subsea field has started gas production for the Åsgard field in the Norwegian Sea, only eight months after the plan for development and operation (PDO) was approved. The fast realisation from find to production has been possible because we have good knowledge about the subsurface in the area, and the subsea production facility could be tied back to the existing infrastructure on the Åsgard field. Aker Solutions has signed a frame agreement with Shell Norway and Shell U.K. Limited for the supply of subsea umbilicals. The contract is awarded for one year with an option to extend it an additional 12 months. The award means that Aker Solutions will be the preferred supplier of steel tube umbilicals for projects in the North Sea that are managed by Shell's Norwegian and UK operations. Full text
