Petro-Canada today announced successful results from two international exploration wells - one in the United Kingdom (U.K.) sector of the North Sea and one in deepwater off Trinidad and Tobago. Full text
StatoilHydro has, together with the operator ExxonMobil, discovered hydrocarbons 265 miles southwest of New Orleans. "This is a promising oil discovery," says Helen Butcher, StatoilHydro’s exploration manager for deepwater Gulf of Mexico.

Oceanworks has been awarded a contract by PanGeo Subsea Inc. to design and build their first Acoustic Corer. This subsea tool, the first in a suite of 3D sub-seabed imaging products, will produce a high resolution sub-seabed image that can be used to detect and locate geohazards such as large boulders or buried pipelines. FMC Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: FTI) announced today that it has received the award to supply deepwater subsea processing and production systems to Total Exploration & Production Angola. The systems will be used in Total’s Pazflor Project, located in Block 17 deepwater offshore Angola. The award has a value of approximately $980 million in revenue to FMC Technologies. Full text

BHP Billiton today announced that participants in the Kipper Gas Field Development have approved the first phase of development of the Gippsland Basin field located offshore Victoria to produce new supplies of natural gas and liquids through new and existing Bass Strait facilities. Full text
Bennex is delivering two Riser Light Well Intervention (RLWI) MKII UTH (Umbilical Termination Head) systems for FMC Kongsberg Subsea (FKS). The systems will be used for maintenance of sub sea wells without using Riser - DP ships. Full text
The Tordis field is located in the Tampen area between Statfjord and Visund (see map). The field is developed with several subsea installations tied in to the Gullfaks C facility. Oil has been produced from the field since 1994. Full text
At the end of November, 31 exploration wells had been spudded on the Norwegian shelf. In comparison, only 26 exploration wells were spudded in all of 2006. The explanation for this increase lies in better access to exploration rigs. Full text
