On 31 August 2009, following a routine inspection revealing cracks in a subsea structure connected to the oil storage tank underneath the Siri platform, DONG Energy decided to stop production from the Siri field. As the licence operator, DONG Energy has now developed a temporary solution designed to support the caisson to prevent any further damage. Full text

FMC Technologies announced today its intent to acquire Multi Phase Meters AS (MPM). Based in Stavanger, Norway, MPM is a global leader in the development and manufacture of high-performance multiphase flow meters for the oil and gas industry. Petrobras and Norwegian outfit Framo Engineering (Framo) signed a technological cooperation agreement Thursday (09/17) to install, in the Campos Basin, an unprecedented submarine multiphase pumping system in Brazil. Full text

Aker Solutions has signed a contract with Eni Norge AS to deliver a subsea production system to the operator's Goliat field development in the Barents Sea. Contract value is approximately NOK 2.3 billion. Full text

Chevron has just announced that it will proceed with the development of the Gorgon natural gas project offshore Western Australia. Development proposals for the project were approved today by the Western Australian State Premier and production licenses were granted by the Australian Minister for Resources and Energy. Full text

New drilling and well technology developed by StatoilHydro and FMC Technologies will improve the oil recovery from subsea fields. The technology has now been successfully tested on the Åsgard field in the Norwegian Sea.One of the measures to extract more oil from the fields is to drill more wells, but drilling subsea wells is expensive. GE Oil & Gas, a world leading company in oil & gas advanced technology equipment and services, has today announced that it has been awarded a contract to provide Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Ltd. (EEAL), a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corporation, with subsea production equipment for Kizomba Satellites, a new deepwater oil production project off the coast of West Africa. Full text
