BP announced today a giant oil discovery at its Tiber Prospect in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The Tiber well was drilled to a total depth of approximately 35,055 feet (10,685 metres) making it one of the deepest wells ever drilled by the oil and gas industry. Full text

Nexans has secured a frame agreement with BP Exploration & Production Inc. for deep water umbilical projects in the Gulf of Mexico that could be worth as much as $300 million in total. The frame agreement is initially for one year; however, BP has the right to extend the agreement for an additional four year period. Full text

AGR Subsea Inc, a subsidiary of AGR Group ASA, signed a contract with Chevron USA Inc to perform Integrated Project Management and Engineering for the build, deployment and prove-up of the Dual Gradient Drilling System. Full text

FMC Technologies said today that it has been awarded a contract by Petrobras to supply a subsea separation system for the Marlim field, located in the Campos Basin, offshore Brazil. The contract is valued at approximately $90 million in revenue to FMC Technologies. Full text

Chevron Australia Pty Ltd today announced two natural gas discoveries in the Carnarvon Basin offshore Western Australia. The discoveries are located in Australia’s premier hydrocarbon basin, where Chevron is the leading lease holder. The Clio-2 well, located 90 miles (150 kilometers) off the coast of Western Australia, is situated in 3,200 feet (990 meters) of water. Full text

The world’s deepest hot tap operations on a pressurised pipeline have been performed on the Ormen Lange field in the Norwegian Sea during early August. The two hot taps were monitored and controlled from the surface, assisted by 100 sensors, 23 cameras and 18 subsea computers deployed on the seabed to transmit data via heavy duty cables. Full text

Chevron Corporation announced today that it had made a successful discovery in Block 0 located adjacent to the Cabinda coastline in Angola. The 79-3XST1 discovery well encountered over 225 feet of net hydrocarbon pay in the Upper Pinda formation. Full text
