AMEC selected for Esso Kizomba Satellites contract offshore Angola

AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, announced today that is has been selected by Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Limited (EEAL), a subsidiary of ExxonMobil Corporation, to provide detailed design, procurement and logistics support services for the Kizomba Satellites project on Block 15, offshore Angola.

The contract value was not disclosed.

This award continues a long history of collaboration and successful project development by AMEC on the Kizomba fields and progresses the front end engineering design work for Kizomba Satellites already completed by AMEC.

“The award of this significant contract by Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Limited at this time is further recognition of AMEC’s leading position in the development of complex offshore Angola projects and continues our long and successful relations with ExxonMobil,” said Simon Naylor, President of AMEC’s Natural Resources Americas business.

The project will be executed by Paragon Angola, AMEC’s joint venture with Prodiaman in Luanda, with support from AMEC’s Houston-based offices.

“The new contract will boost AMEC’s recent commitments to sustainable local content for Angolan oil and gas projects,” says Terrance Ivers, President of AMEC’s Oil & Gas Americas business. "We have an ambitious but achievable target that will support ongoing development of Angolan national employees for future work opportunities in-country. In the past, we have delivered high percentages of local talent on projects of this type. At the same time, we help ensure that our clients meet their local content requirements."
The project will enable the business in Angola to grow, ultimately establishing nearly 50 in-country employees dedicated to this contract. The Houston support team will peak at about 150 personnel.

ExxonMobil Announces Startup of Marimba North Project Offshore Angola

Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) announced today that its subsidiary, Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Limited, has started production from the Marimba North project, designed to develop 80 million barrels of oil in approximately 3,900 feet (1,300 meters) of water more than 90 miles (145 kilometers) off the coast of Angola.
