Seadrill has taken delivery of the new deepwater semi-submersible drilling rig West Eminence from the Samsung Shipyard in South Korea. The unit will leave Korean waters today en route to its first drilling assignment in Brazil.

DONG Energy's Norwegian exploration and production company, DONG E&P Norge AS, have together with license partners prepared a development plan for the Norwegian oil and gas field Oselvar. The development plan has been submitted to the Norwegian authorities for processing and approval. Full text
Nigeria's Akpo offshore oilfield, operated by French oil major Total, began production this week, a senior official with state-run oil firm NNPC said on Thursday. Discovered in 2000, the Akpo gas and condensate field is located around 200 kilometers offshore Port Harcourt in water depths ranging from 1,100 to 1,700 meters. Full text
Aspen Aerogels has completed delivery of Spaceloft advanced thermal insulation to Technip for a 21-kilometer subsea natural gas pipeline off the coast of Brazil. Technip is building the rigid pipeline for the Brazilian state-run oil company Petrobras. Full text
TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company (TGS) announced today that it, in conjunction with co-operation partner WesternGeco, has resumed data acquisition on the Freedom Wide Azimuth multi-client project in the Mississippi Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico utilizing a higher capacity operation that includes two recording vessels, each towing 10 streamers. ExxonMobil subsidiary, Esso Australia Resources Pty Ltd, today announced that it has secured a drilling rig for the Kipper Gas Project in Bass Strait, following an agreement with Apache Energy Limited and Diamond Offshore (Australia) LLC. The agreement secures the use of the ‘Ocean Patriot’ semi-submersible drilling rig, which is operated by Diamond, to drill the Kipper subsea wells. Full text
Circle Oil has announced the successful completion of a 2D marine seismic acquisition programme in the Mahdia Permit offshore Tunisia. A total of 500.75 kilometres of infill full fold 2D seismic data has been acquired by PGS Marine. The acquired data will now be sent for processing as a precursor to its interpretation and integration into the existing datasets for the area. Full text
Platform FPSO Cidade de Niterói went onstream today (02/26) in the Marlim Leste field, in the Campos Basin. It is located 120 kilometers off the coast, at 1,370 meters from the waterline, and is capable of producing 100,000 barrels of light oil (28º API) and 3.5 million cubic meters of gas per day. Heritage Oil Limited an independent upstream exploration and production company, announces the commencement of oil and associated gas production from the West Bukha field in Block 8, located in the Strait of Hormuz offshore of the Sultanate of Oman.
