Chevron Deploys a Second Ultra-Deepwater Drillship

Chevron U.S.A. Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX), today announced that it has commenced operations on the Discoverer Inspiration, an ultra-deepwater drillship, in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The vessel has the capability to drill wells in 12,000 feet (3,650 meters) of water to a total depth of 40,000 feet (12,200 meters). Full text

Final diver less subsea mooring connection finished at Neptune

The final diver less subsea mooring connection was recently finished at the north STL Buoy of the Neptune Deep Water Port Project. The Neptune DWPP Installation project team has installed 16 suction anchors, 16 chain lengths, two STL Buoys with wires and connected the wires to the chain on the seabed without intervention of divers. DMT Emerald Installs Suction Pile, Manifold, and Tree for Major Oil Company

Deep Marine Technology’s 292ft DMT Emerald vessel has successfully installed a purpose built suction pile, subsea manifold, and tree for a major oil company utilizing its 100T Multi-purpose Tower. The suction pile, over 35ft tall and 15ft in diameter, was successfully over boarded in 4ft to 6ft seas and installed in under 12 hours. Full text

Dana Petroleum today said that first oil production has successfully commenced from the Ettrick field, located in blocks 20/2a & 20/3a of the UKCS. Six wells were subsequently drilled between March 2007 and March 2009. The field is being produced via the leased “Aoka Mizu” FPSO. Full text
