On Sunday, 2 August, the seismic data acquisition by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) in Troms II, northwest of Senja, was completed. Acquisition will continue for a few more days in Nordland VII in Vesterålen. Full text

Grenland Group has delivered another subsea structure that will contribute to increased oil production on the Norwegian continental shelf. This latest manifold is bound for the Norne field in the Norwegian Sea. In August, a 250 tonnes protection structure for the manifold will be delivered from Grenland Group. The subsea structures from Grenland Group is a sub-contracted delivery to FMC Technologies's Norne contract with StatoilHydro. Full text

Subsea 7 today said that the medium to long-term outlook for the subsea market continues to remain strong, however there is no doubt that the current economic environment is challenging. There continue to be delays in project awards and a greater pressure on margins, driven by both lower volumes of work available and a push by the operators to cut costs in the supply chain. On 22nd July, the GGS-Atlantic commenced the acquisition of Spectrum'sBig Wave Phase 2 multi client seismic survey in the eastern Gulf ofMexico. Phase 2 of Spectrum's Big Wave multi client programme is a total of 14,000km long offset, high quality seismic data and includes a 2,000km well tie survey to the east of the main study area. Technip, supported by Jumbo Offshore, completed the installation of four subsea structures including two Module Support Frames each weighing approximately 150 tonnes. The foundations were lowered to the Grand Banks sea floor at a depth of approximately 120 meters and will support subsea manifolds and flowlines that are part of a multiple well tie-back. Full text

StatoilHydro started production from the Tune South satellite well on Saturday 18 July. The satellite is tied back to the Oseberg field centre via the Tune subsea template. In its first year of production, Tune South will account for 10% of the gas exported from the Oseberg field centre. Subsea connector specialist, First Subsea has completed the installation of the twelve mooring connectors for the Thunder Hawk DeepDraft Semi, a semi-submersible floating production unit (FPU) in 6,050 feet (1,800m) in the Gulf of Mexico. Full text

Murphy Oil Corporation announced today that the Thunder Hawk field located in Mississippi Canyon Block 734 in the Gulf of Mexico has commenced production. The field lies in over 5,700 feet of water, approximately 145 miles southeast of New Orleans, Louisiana. Full text
