Chevron Deploys a Second Ultra-Deepwater DrillshipChevron U.S.A. Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX), today announced that it has commenced operations on the Discoverer Inspiration, an ultra-deepwater drillship, in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The field comprises Tyrihans South, an oil field with a gas cap, and Tyrihans North, a gas and condensate discovery with a thin oil zone. The recoverable volumes in the reservoirs are 186 million barrels of oil and condensate, and 41.5 million standard cubic metres of gas. Full text

SBM Offshore, under an EPCI contract with the Frade B.V., has completed installation of the 'FPSO Frade', which commenced oil production on 20 June 2009. The FPSO Frade is situated in the Frade field, which is located 375 kilometres northeast of Rio de Janeiro in the Campos Basin, offshore Brazil, in approximately 1,080 meters of water depth. Chevron Corporation announced today that its subsidiary Chevron Brasil Upstream Frade Ltda. has commenced crude oil production from the Frade Field, the company's first operated deepwater development in Brazil. The estimated USD 3 billion project, with continuing development drilling, is expected to achieve peak production of 90,000 barrels of crude oil and natural gas liquids per day in 2011. Full text
