Exxon Mobil starts production on Kizomba C
Exxon Mobil Corporation announced today that its subsidiary, Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Limited (Esso Angola), has started production from the Kizomba C development, designed to develop 600 million barrels of oil from the Mondo, Saxi and Batuque fields in approximately 2,400 feet (800 meters) of water more than 90 miles (145 kilometers) off the coast of Angola. StatoilHydro intends to achieve long term growth from a strong resource base with significant exploration activities worldwide. This year’s exploration programme represents an all time high for the new company, amounting to around NOK 18 billion, based on around 70 wells, split approximately 50/50 between NCS and internationally.

Aker Kvaerner awarded another floater installation contract
StatoilHydro has awarded Aker Kvaerner a contract for tow and installation of the Gjøa Semi in the North Sea. The total contract value is approximately NOK 180 million. Full text
Talisman Announces First Oil From the Wood Field in the North Sea
Talisman North Sea Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM) (NYSE:TLM), has commenced production from the Wood Field. The field is expected to produce at a peak rate of 6,000 bbls/d of oil and 16 mmcf/d of natural gas. The new facilities will allow the export of an additional 9 mmcf/d from the Montrose, Arbroath, Arkwright and Brechin ("MonArb") fields. Full text
BP Brings Cashima on Stream off Trinidad
BP today announced that natural gas production from the Cashima field, offshore Trinidad, started on December 15, 2007. This followed the first gas production from the nearby Mango field on November 17. Full text
Petrobras selects Aker Kvaerner design for P-56 platform
The Brazilian oil company Petrobras has selected an Aker Kvaerner design for the hull of their new semisubmersible production platform to be located offshore Brazil, at the Marlim Sul deep water field development. Full text
Roncador FPSO P-54 online
Platform P-54 went online last night (12/11) in the Roncador field, in the Campos Basin. Designed to produce 180,000 barrels per day, at peak production, it will increase that field’s installed capacity to 460,000 barrels per day and make an important contribution to sustaining Brazil’s oil self-sufficiency.
