Offshore Solutions B.V. is celebrating the installation and operation of its first Offshore Access System (OAS*) in the central North Sea. Designed to operate in 2.5 metre Hs (significant wave height) sea states, the OAS is mounted onboard platform supply vessel FD Incredible, which has been chartered by Chevron as an accommodation vessel. Today the completed 1150 tonnes heavy Ormen Lange subsea template was loaded out on a barge at Grenland Group’s construction yard in Tønsberg. The enormous 44 m x 33 m x 15 m subsea station will soon be towed out for installation at 850 meters depth in the southern part of the Ormen Lange field in the Norwegian Sea ,120 km northwest of Kristiansund. DeepFlex announced the manufacturing and replacement of 490 meters of flexible, four-inch-diameter pipe used as an oil export riser for PetroSA (the Petroleum, Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa). T.D. Williamson SA, a leading supplier of pipeline services and equipment, announced that it has performed a successful “hot tap” operation for Acergy. This subsea operation was carried out on a gas pipeline in the North Sea to facilitate tie-in of the Ettrick Field gas export pipeline operated by Nexen Petroleum U.K. Limited, in order that gas can be exported to the onshore gas plant north of Aberdeen, UK. BP today announced it has begun production from the Dorado and King South projects in the Gulf of Mexico. Both projects are subsea tiebacks to the existing BP Marlin Tension Leg Platform (TLP) infrastructure. Full text
Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) has announced that it has started crude oil production from its Tahiti Field, the deepest producing field in the Gulf of Mexico. First oil from Tahiti was achieved on May 5, 2009. Daily production is expected to ramp up to approximately 125,000 barrels of crude oil and 70 million cubic feet of natural gas before the end of the year. Full text
The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has been informed today that the participants in the Skanled pipeline project will suspend the project. The difficult financial situation has weakened the gas market outlook and the non-Norwegian participants in the project do not find it economically attractive to transport gas to Europe through Skanled and further on through Denmark.
