BP today announced it has begun production from the Dorado and King South projects in the Gulf of Mexico. Both projects are subsea tiebacks to the existing BP Marlin Tension Leg Platform (TLP) infrastructure. Full text
Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) has announced that it has started crude oil production from its Tahiti Field, the deepest producing field in the Gulf of Mexico. First oil from Tahiti was achieved on May 5, 2009. Daily production is expected to ramp up to approximately 125,000 barrels of crude oil and 70 million cubic feet of natural gas before the end of the year. Full text
The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has been informed today that the participants in the Skanled pipeline project will suspend the project. The difficult financial situation has weakened the gas market outlook and the non-Norwegian participants in the project do not find it economically attractive to transport gas to Europe through Skanled and further on through Denmark. Petrobras kicked-off oil production in the Santos Basin’s Pre-Salt Pole today, May 1. The first oil was lifted from Tupi in the presence of Mines & Energy minister, Edison Lobao, of Petrobras’ president and CEO, of the entire board of the Company, and of representatives of the partners in the exploratory block, BG and Galp Energia. A total of 21 production shutdowns are planned by StatoilHydro on the Norwegian continental shelf during 2009. This extensive work programme aims to achieve safer and more efficient facilities. The Benin 2D program is an extension of the 10,000 kilometers of TGS 2D that was recently acquired offshore Ghana.
