AGR Field Operations, with partner Flexlife have successfully performed the world’s first diver less, subsea ultrasonic examination on a number of flexible risers. The combined efforts have resulted in a unique inspection achievement in the North Sea.
AGR’s unique Neptune inspection technology and Flexlife’s flexible riser knowledge produced high resolution ultrasonic images through the outer riser sheath of the armour wiring underneath.
The inspection was carried out on 6 (six) flexibles in the 4” – 8” diameter range directly from the FPSO installation. Deployment, attachment, detachment and recovery were performed in line with a strict procedure to comply with the client’s safety and integrity expectations. The ROV was a small inspection class Falcon by Film-Ocean.
The results were recorded using AGR’s proprietary Technology DesignTM software and delivered to the client in real time.
“We are now looking forward to assisting other operators obtain a clearer picture of the integrity of their flexible risers”, said Matthew Kennedy, Manager of AGR Field Operations in UK.
