Small light weight Subsea X-mas tree PT sensor fra PRESENS

2008.03.31 - Technology

PRESENS announced today that it will be releasing its new Subsea X-mas tree pressure and temperature sensor at OTC 2008 in Houston, USA from May 5th to 8th.

Since their first commercial installation in 1998, PRESENS has worked towards achieving their goal of being the leading supplier of pressure sensors to the oil & gas market. Through years of continuous development and refinement of their unique core pressure sensor technology, PRESENS has created a new Subsea sensor with characteristics that enable high-accuracy pressure and temperature measurements throughout the life of the field.

“We have combined mathematics, mechanics, electronics and over 250 years of experience in a way that optimizes uniquely the attributes of our core technology”, states PRESENS project manager Paal Martin Vagle.

Vagle continues, “However, the most striking features are the sensor’s size and weight. Thanks to the mechanical design and assembly concept we have reduced the sensor size and weight by almost 70% in comparison to other current solutions in the market.”

With a total weight of only 6.5 kilos, a total accuracy of better than ±0.02% FS, 1 year drift of better than ±0.1% FS and an inherent tolerance to over-pressure and pressure spikes, PRESENS’ new Subsea sensor offers a solution unparallel to none.

“We are absolutely certain that we have developed a unique product that fills a large void in the market”, says Voula Terzoudi, Business Development Manager for Oil & Gas, Global at PRESENS. She adds, “Although the product specification is to the highest requirements, the manufacturing costs are competitive. We anticipate the market will show a lot of interest in this product.”
